Reviews of the DMP-BD30 Panasonic
Below are a selection of reviews of the DMP-BD30 blu-ray dvd player.
Review One
"My DMP-BD30 is my first Blu-Ray dvd player and will go alongside a Samsung television and a Onkyo AV receiver.
It is one of the first Profile 1.1 players to be available in the UK, which is why I waited for it. Profile 1.1 means that it will play the Picture-In-Picture commentary that some may be interested in.
The DMP-BD30 HD picture is excellent, easily on-par with HD-DVD. 'Cars' looked amazing. 'Spiderman 3' was out of this world. Normal DVDs have up-scaled very well, I could not see any difference between an up-scaled DVD played on either the DMPBD30 or my HD player, which really is saying something.
TrueHD was on both discs and sounded phenominal. Remember that there is no on-board decoding of the newer codecs (TrueHD, DD+, DTS-HD) so you will need to bitstream them over to a suitable AV receiver that can decode them.
The DMP-BD30 is fast to turn on, fast to load up and very quiet - you can hardly hear the fan at all. If you are waiting for Profile 2.0 (to connect it to the web) or have an older AV receiver and need on-board decoding, then the DMP-BD50 may be worth waiting for. Otherwise this is highly recommended."

Review Two
"I waited a while to get anything HD but once Blu-ray had won I started looking and researching. Panasonic came up aces in all the reviews and also when I went looking at the televisions and players. I got a 50" plasma television and they included in the DMP-BD30 player in the deal. Since then I haven't looked back.
The DMPBD30 is a great unit. I bought mine with the 1.6 rev of the firmware so I haven't experienced any problems at all. It handles all the BDs and DVDs I throw at it (except DivX, of course). It works perfectly and delivers fantastic PQ and AQ to my display. I don't care about Profile 2 - I watch films and don't want to interact with them to any great extent, I think that's what video games are for. Load times are really fast - especially compared to a lot of the other players I considered while looking for this one.
Overall I'd highly recommend the DMP-BD30 as an excellent standalone Profile 1.1 player for anyone that can live without whatever extras the Profile 2 players will offer."

Review Three
"I've tried playing some films on a Samsung that just would not play them but when I put these same films into my DMPBD30, they worked just fine!
So far, the DMPBD30 has been very reliable and will play just about anything you put in it. I also find that the Upscaling of standard DVD's is very impressive. It seems to enhance black level better than other players I've looked at.
To conclude, I'm really impressed with my DMP-BD30 and intend to keep it for many years to come - not something I always do!"
